Yes We Can Still Blame Bush

You know the so-called mainstream media is letting our democracy down when Comedy Central is constantly reporting stories and distributing facts that they will not. The latest example comes from the Daily Show's Jon Stewart, who makes the obvious case that we can still blame President Bush, because his failures were so immense, it will takes years, even decades to recover:

Ohio Added More Jobs in April Than Any Month in 22 Years

Ohio, like most Midwestern manufacturing states, has been hit very hard over the last decade or so, but believe it or not, the Buckeye state is leading the way back. For the month of April, Ohio led all states with job increases, adding 37,000 jobs, the most Ohio has added in 22 years. Part of the increase comes from the manufacturing and auto sectors, which added 44,000 jobs nationwide.

Ironic, isn't it, considering Jim Renacci, a car salesman, is like all Republican politicians, running around asking where all the jobs are. Well, Mr. Renacci, considering the Republican party that you are a part of, and more importantly whose policies you embrace, decimated Ohio with job losses, you should know where to find them. In the dustbin of failed Republican economic policies, embraced by President George W. Bush and Republicans in Congress during the last decade. As the Wall Street Journal put it — Bush on Jobs: The Worst Track Record on Record.

Democrats Better For The Economy - Yet More Evidence

Ron Brownstein of the National Journal wrote one of the more poignant things you'll read this year:
"If the economy produces jobs over the next eight months at the same pace as it did over the past four months, the nation will have created more jobs in 2010 alone than it did over the entire eight years of George W. Bush's presidency."
Let that sink in for a minute. Despite the absolute shambles that President Bush left the economy when President Obama took office, in a little over a year the economy has turned around to the point where it might well create more jobs in 2010 than Bush/Cheney did in eight years. And Democrats are doing this despite Republican obstructionism, which demonstrates they are more interested in getting elected than actually helping ordinary Americans.

More on Democrats and the economy.

Poll: Obama Better Than Bush — On National Security And Terrorism

This should be obvious to anyone who has closely followed what President Obama has done since taking office, compared to what Bush/Cheney didn't do for eight years. But the combination of Republicans claiming they are tough on terrorism, the media echoing this assumption, and many Democrats being too afraid to say otherwise are all preventing the good work of the Obama administration and the military over the last year. Fortunately, more people than not are recognizing the positive changes:

When it comes to national security, do you think President Obama is doing better, worse, or about the same as President George W. Bush?

Total better: 39
Total worse: 31

And:

When it comes to combating terrorism and handling terrorism suspects, do you think President Obama is doing better, worse, or about the same as President George W. Bush?

Total better: 38
Total worse: 31
